His Excellency Dr. Ioan Robu

His Excellency Dr. Ioan Robu, the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bucharest was born in Târgu Secuiesc on November the 6th 1944 and was ordained priest on August the 15th 1968, after graduating the Theological Institute of Iasi, Romania.

In the period between 1973-1977 Ioan Robu graduated the Alphonsian Academy within the Lateran University of Rome, and thus he became Doctor in Theology.

Dr. Ioan Robu was then appointed as Titular Bishop of Cellæ in Proconsulari on December the 8th 1984 by His Eminence Cardinal Casaroli, the Secretary of State in Vatican.

On April the 29th 1990, Dr. Ioan Robu was officially appointed as Metropolitan Archbishop of Bucharest by His Excellency Archbishop Angelo Sodano, the Ambassador of His Holiness the Pope John Paul II.
